My First 3 Months of Blogging – Income,Traffic & Experiences

I love reading Income Reports of other blogs. Who doesn't ?

It motivates me to work harder.

In this post, I will share my blogging journey with my primary focus on BlogRags. I will share my past story as well.

This post will help you know more about me and as well as my future plans for BlogRags.

Who am I ?

Many of you must be curious to know the person behind these posts. You may have read my About Me page but let me tell you a bit more about me.

I am Himanshu as most of you may be knowing from the Author Bio section. I am currently put up in Bangalore to pursue my Engineering. I was born in the steel city of India, Jamshedpur.

I was born and brought up there. I have done my schooling from Little Flower School, Jamshedpur before coming to Bangalore. From childhood, I was fond of technology as many other kids these days.

Was it Phones or Computers, I loved to play with them. Maybe that's the reason I opted for science and landed up doing engineering in Electronics and Communication. I would have preferred Computer Science but circumstances were such that I had to go with the second best option.

I have been an average student all my life. I never wanted to come  first at school or now at college. It didn't seem that fruitful to me.

My Online Journey

So how did I land up in the online space?

From childhood, I was fond of gadgets. I loved to see their reviews online and also would even dream of having them. But getting them were next to impossible.

I still remember I would collect some cash by selling DVDs containing Games and Softwares. Back then people were not that fond of torrent and related stuff etc. So it would easily sell on classified sites like Olx etc.

You will be surprised to know that I made enough money to buy a used Nexus 4. Cool right 🙂 . But somehow I stopped selling these type of stuff. The two main reason would be one it was illegal and the other the demand steadily reduced.

So How Blogging?

I started blogging back in 2013 when some guy told me about Fileice, a PPD( Pay Per Download) network and how anyone could make easy money through it. My first blog was on blogger and was about internet tricks.

The whole idea did not work out that much and after few month I had to close the blog. Later on, I started another tech blog which also gradually failed because all I would do was copy others content and hope to get traffic.

My first successful blog was on Hack, Cracks, etc. It earned me around 4500$ ( around three lakhs)  in about 14 odd months. But unfortunately, I did not pay any attention to the blog which led to its downfall and ultimately made me sell the blog for around 400$ in early 2016.

I have then launched multiple sites since then and many have failed miserably. I have a tech blog which is still up but I have stopped working on it as it was becoming more of a personal blog.

I have micro niche site which makes me around 50$ a month.

Why BlogRags and future plans ?

After failing multiple times with sites and after spending enough time in this industry I started Blogrags to make a mark in the blogging sphere. I share most of my knowledge here and how to avoid mistakes which I committed in the past.

I want BlogRags to become an authority in the future. It is my dream website.

You will keep seeing helpful articles and guides being posted each month. I am also planning on launching courses to help fellow bloggers earn their first dollar online.

Currently, I am working on a blog about a fitness accessory. I will love to share my journey here on BlogRags if things go well. You can see the rankings below. It has been around two months since I started the niche site, and the blog is ranking on the third page for most of the keywords.

Traffic - Last 3 Months ( June, July & August )

Traffic sucks when you start a new blog. You need to rely on other platforms for traffic. You can't hope to get Organic traffic within few months of blogging.

So in the three months periods, there were 4100 sessions which accounted for 5600 pageviews. Most of the traffic came from Facebook and other community sites.

The social traffic accounted for 65% of the total pageviews. This was all because of promoting my posts on sites like Inbound and Klinkk.

Top 3 traffic Sources -

  • Facebook ( 50%)
  • Google Plus ( 4%)
  • Inbound.org (5%)

The Top 3 performing blog post accounted for around 60% of the total pageviews.

Income Report

After starting various blogs, I did not hope to earn from this one at least for the first eight months. So I kept no hopes of doing so. Furthermore I was blogging under a niche which is the most popular and most competitive niche after Technology.

I was lucky enough to find few clients who wanted me to write for their blogs after reading my in-depth posts.

Freelance Writing - 400$

Freelance Writing made me around 25,000 bucks. It was more than I expected and I am really thankful to them.

My Experience

The experience is great. When you see your hard work paying off it feels lovely. My main goal is to produce content which helps people and which also fulfils the motto of the blog that is to "make blogging easier".
